CPE Series Bus ConverterAtkinson, NH – September 14, 2017 – Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. introduces the CPE6D24, CPE6R24 and CPE5R48 “Cool Power Technologies” wide input range 8th brick DC-DC converters designed for use in power radio and other applications where it is intended to directly replace larger quarter bricks modules (identical pin out and functionality.) The converter features an industry standard 18-36Vdc or 36-72Vdc (24 or 48Vdc nominal) input voltage ranges and have outputs trimmable from 21-34Vdc (model dependent – see datasheet.) The modules have a typical full load efficiency of 93% which allows for use over a wide ambient temperature range with minimal derating. The open frame design is also available with an optional baseplate for those applications where conduction cooling is required or preferred. This module is compliant with DOSA footprint and interface standards.

The CPE6D24, CPE6R24 and CPE5R48 meet EN 60950 basic insulation requirements and is UL94 V-0 flammability rated. The modules comply with all of the typical industry requirements including no load operation and 2X nominal input voltage transient capability.

Other features include: fixed-frequency operation, auto-restart OVP, OCP & OTP protections, UVLO and remote sense. Remote ON/OFF is standard with positive or negative logic options are available.

The modules feature a standard 8th brick pinout and dimensions of 2.3” L x 0.9” W (58.4mm x 22.9mm.) It has a maximum height of 11.8mm (0.465”) which accommodates tight card spacing with minimal airflow blockage of downstream components. A baseplate version is available for conduction cooling applications with an industry standard height of 0.50″.

These open frame or optional encapsulated modules provide up to 30W of output power @ an output voltage of 3.3V or 5VDC (12V & 15V versions will also be available – consult factory.) These module is ideal for industrial or distributed power architecture applications. These module are compliant with the standard 1×1 & 1×2 pinout and interface standards. It has a wide input voltage range of 4.5 to 9 VDC (3-9 Vin for the 3.3V version) & provides 2250 VDC input to output isolation in open frame configuration, 1600VDC for the encapsulated module.

The 5Vin CP30 series is ROHS II Directive 2011/65/EU Compliant, meets UL/EN 60950 requirements and is UL94 V-0 flammability rated. The module complies with all of the typical industry requirements including no load operation, 15V input voltage transient and pre-biased load startup.

Other features include: fixed-frequency operation, auto-restart over-voltage, over-current & over-temperature protections, undervoltage lockout and +/-10% output voltage trim. Remote ON/OFF is standard with positive or negative logic options available. Modules can also be ordered without enable pin and trim pin (remove “P” or “N” from model number.)

The modules feature a standard 1×1/1×2 pinout with dimensions of 0.94” L x 0.94” W x 0.35″ Max. Height (23.9mm x 23.9mm x 8.9mm.) The encapsulated versions are standard 1″ x 1″ x 0.4″ Tall (25.4mm x 25.4mm x 10.2mm.)

Not all systems have printed circuit boards (PCB) available to mount a thru-hole module. This does not mean however that these applications cannot take advantage of the latest technologies in BMP designs.

Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. a division of Cool Power Technologies has been creating unique customer specific application solutions for over fifty years. Our latest innovation addresses this shortcoming in a simple and elegant fashion.

Available with output power from 10 to 100 watts, the new CPP series offers all of the advantages of our popular CPT family of 16th bricks in a low profile chassis mount package while still offering the flexibility of either a 2:1 or ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range. Input and output connections utilize a convenient barrier strip with rugged screw terminals. The middle terminal can be specified as Output Trim or an Enable option (or no connection.) CPT SeriesAtkinson, NH – January 4, 2017 – Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. increases usable power in it’s “Cool Power Technologies” wide input range 16th brick DC-DC converter series. These open frame modules can now be ordered with a baseplate heat spreader to provide up to 100W of usable output power @ output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5.0, 12 and now 24Vdc – ideal for distributed power architecture applications or as a fully regulated intermediate bus converter. These modules are compliant with DOSA 16th brick footprint and interface standards. These converters have a wide input voltage ranges of 2:1 input up to 100 Watts & 4:1 inputs up to 50 Watts (up to 75W coming – inquire through sales) & provide 2250 VDC input to output isolation.

The CPT series meets UL/EN 60950 safety standard requirements and is UL94 V-0 flammability rated. All modules are ROHS II and REACH compliant. The modules also meet all of the typical industry requirements including no load operation, 2X nominal input voltage transient and pre-biased load startup.

Other features include: fixed-frequency operation, auto-restart OVP, OCP & OTP protections, UVLO, remote sense and output voltage trim using industry standard equations. Remote ON/OFF is standard with positive or negative logic options available.

The modules feature a standard 16th brick pinout with dimensions of 1.3” L x 0.9” W (33.02mm x 22.86mm.) They have a maximum height of 0.374″ (9.5mm) which accommodates tight card spacing with minimal airflow blockage of downstream components. Baseplate modules offer a standard 0.500″ inch height [12.7mm] for interfacing with heat spreader/chassis surfaces. A heatsink can be attached to the module using optional M3 threaded holes in baseplate.

The converter has a full load efficiency of 94% which allows for use over a wide ambient temperature range (w/derating.) The open frame design is also available with an optional baseplate for those applications where conduction cooling is required or preferred. This module is compliant with DOSA footprint and interface standards.
