CPT 4:1 SeriesAtkinson, NH – October 10, 2018 – Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. expands the power rating of the “Cool Power Technologies” wide input range 16th brick DC-DC converter series. These open frame (through-hole or SMT) or baseplated modules provide up to 72W of output power @ output voltages of 5.0, and 12Vdc – ideal for distributed power architecture applications or as a fully regulated intermediate bus converter. These modules are compliant with DOSA 16th brick footprint and interface standards. The converters have a wide input voltage range of 18 to 72 VDC (9-36 Vin upon request) & provide 2250 VDC input to output isolation.

The CPT 4:1 series offers output voltages from 3.3V to 48V and input voltage ranges of 9-36Vin or 18-72Vin. Other power levels and output voltages in the 4:1 input series are available upon request. We also welcome quick-turn modifications and custom configurations to meet our customer’s particular requirements.

The CPT 4:1 input series meets EN 60950 basic insulation requirements and is RoHS 2 Directive 2011/65/EU and REACH 1907/2006 – 191 SVHC update 27 June 2018 compliant. The module complies with all of the typical industry requirements including no load operation, 2X nominal input voltage transient and pre-biased load startup.

Other features include: fixed-frequency operation, auto-restart OVP, OCP & OTP protections, UVLO, remote sense and +/-10% output voltage trim using industry standard equations. Remote ON/OFF is standard with positive or negative logic options available.

The modules feature a standard 16th brick pinout with dimensions of 1.3” L x 0.9” W (33.02mm x 22.86mm.) They have a maximum height of 0.374″ (9.5mm) which accommodates tight card spacing with minimal airflow blockage of downstream components. Baseplate modules offer a standard 0.500″ inch max. height [12.7mm] for interfacing with heat spreader/chassis surfaces.

CP30 SeriesAtkinson, NH – June 21, 2017 – Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. introduces the new “Cool Power Technologies” 5V input (4.5-9V) 5V, 6A and 3.3V, 6A 30W 1×1 DC-DC converters. These open frame or optional encapsulated modules provide up to 30W of output power @ an output voltage of 3.3V or 5VDC (12V & 15V versions are also available – consult factory.) These modules are ideal for industrial or distributed power architecture applications. These module are compliant with the standard 1×1 & 1×2 pinout and interface standards. It has a wide input voltage range of 4.5 to 9 VDC (3-9 Vin for the 3.3V version) & provides 2250 VDC input to output isolation in open frame configuration, 1600VDC for the encapsulated module.

The 5Vin CP30 series is ROHS 3 Directive 2015/863/EU Compliant, meets UL/EN 60950-1, 2nd edition requirements and is UL94 V-0 flammability rated. The module complies with all of the typical industry requirements including no load operation, 15V input voltage transient and pre-biased load startup.

Other features include: fixed-frequency operation, auto-restart over-voltage, over-current & over-temperature protections, undervoltage lockout and +/-10% output voltage trim. Remote ON/OFF is standard with positive or negative logic options available. Modules can also be ordered without enable pin and trim pin (remove “P” or “N” from model number.)

The modules feature a standard 1×1/1×2 pinout with dimensions of 0.94” L x 0.94” W x 0.35″ Max. Height (23.9mm x 23.9mm x 8.9mm.) The encapsulated versions are standard 1″ x 1″ x 0.4″ Tall (25.4mm x 25.4mm x 10.2mm.)

Open frame or encapsulated 40W 1×1 modules are available in 5V @ 8A and 12V @ 3.3A versions. These modules are ideal for industrial, instrumentation, transportation, medical, solar and many other types of applications including distributed power architecture applications. The module is compliant with the standard 1×2 pinout footprint and interface standards. It has an ultra wide input voltage range of 9 – 36 VDC or 18 – 75 VDC & provides 2250 VDC input to output isolation in open frame configuration, 1600VDC in the encapsulated module.

Industrial applications can present challenges when there is a need to use board mount power (BMP) DC/DC converters. Not all systems have printed circuit boards (PCB) available to mount a thru-hole module. This does not mean however that these applications cannot take advantage of the latest technologies in BMP designs.

Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. a division of Cool Power Technologies has been creating unique customer specific application solutions for over forty years. Our latest innovation addresses this shortcoming in a simple and elegant fashion.

Available with output power from 10 to 168 watts, the new CPC series offers all of the advantages of our popular CPE family of 8th bricks in a low profile chassis mount package while still offering the flexibility of either a 2:1 or ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range. Input and output connections utilize a convenient barrier strip with rugged screw terminals. The middle terminal is available for either the Output Trim or an Enable option. Four (4) threaded inserts are provided for mounting.
